Cambridge Judge Business School Executive Education launches the Innovation and Intrapreneurship programme in partnership with Emeritus

CAMBRIDGE, UK: Cambridge Judge Business School Executive Education is pleased to announce the launch of a new programme: Innovation and Intrapreneurship: Winning Strategies for New Venture Creation. This six-week online programme, led by Dr. Chris Coleridge and Professor Matthew Grimes, is designed to help leaders identify which innovation opportunities deserve deeper attention and cultivate growth from within the organisation through the creation of an independent innovation business unit or venture.

Research reveals that the total lifespan of an organisation — and its products— are shrinking. Disruptive forces, such as ongoing changes in consumer and market behaviour, are asserting pressure on organisations to innovate and evolve more rapidly.  “Organisations and their leaders must embrace an agenda of sustained innovation if they are to remain relevant and solvent. One underutilised, and often misunderstood, path towards growth and innovation is the independent business unit within an organisation; this strategy of creating an in-house venture is the focus of this programme,” said Mike Malefakis, President of University Partnerships at Emeritus.

The expert faculty at University of Cambridge Judge Business School offer a blueprint for successfully ideating, testing, managing and reintegrating the venture back into the parent structure or forming the appropriate exit strategy to achieve growth. In addition to live sessions with faculty and programme leaders, guest speakers bring their leadership and innovation expertise to illustrate and expand on the key concepts. Participants use unique frameworks and tools to help de-risk the adoption of breakthrough innovation, garner support from senior leadership and reintegrate or exit the venture.

“Independent units offer many benefits, including breakthrough ideas, faster time to market, and a tool for talent retention and recruitment,” added Dr. Chris Coleridge. “There are common factors that lead to success for in-house innovation ventures, and examining these factors is the crux of this programme design.”

Given that 50% of annual revenues across a range of industries are derived from new products launched within the past three years, innovation is critical for staying solvent and relevant. Topics addressed in the programme include experimenting within the boundaries of a dedicated innovation unit leaning into behavioural sciences to navigate hype cycles and catalysing organisational support.

The programme starts on 26 July 2023 and is open for enrolment through Emeritus. For more information about the programme, visit the programme website
